How offline sync works

Prepare in port
Enable Prepare for offline in the crew app settings, then download while you have Wi‑Fi or 4G. The app pulls jobs, rounds, profile, and tasks in one pass.

Work at sea
Execute PMS, complete inspections, record hours of rest, and update certificates. The header shows offline status; changes are stored on device.

Sync on reconnect
When signal returns, queued actions replay automatically. You get a clear summary of what synced, what retried, and anything that needs attention.
What Prepare for offline downloads
While connected in port, the crew app pulls a focused bundle of data you need for the voyage — not the entire fleet database. Job media and large attachments are stripped to keep downloads fast and storage reasonable on personal devices.
Toggle Prepare for offline in Settings, tap prepare, and watch progress for profile, PMS lists, job details, rectification tasks, and safety round templates.

Trip and overdue job lists plus job detail packs (checklists, spare parts, sign-off fields) for up to fifty active jobs.
Zone inspections
Vessel zones, inspection templates, and round data cached for safety officers completing COSWP-aligned rounds.
Master's weekly rounds
Weekly round structure and vessel context stored locally so the Master can complete rounds away from Wi‑Fi.
Rectification tasks
Open findings from zone and master inspections, plus ad-hoc PMS tasks assigned to you or your rank.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to prepare every voyage?
Yes — run Prepare for offline while connected before leaving port (or when on good Wi‑Fi). Fresh data means the right jobs and rounds are on device. The app can remind you to refresh after a period online.
What happens if two people edit the same record offline?
WaterTight uses version checks on many saves. If shore data changed while you were offline, you may see a conflict message and be asked to reload before retrying.
Are certificate scan images available offline?
Prepare downloads certificate metadata and fields. Large image files are not bulk-downloaded by default to save storage; viewing may require prior online access.
Is this for the fleet dashboard in the office?
No. Offline prepare and sync is built for the crew app on board the vessel. Shore teams use the web dashboard over normal internet — they are not the primary offline users.
Can I see what is waiting to sync?
Yes. After reconnecting, sync notifications list each queued action type — maintenance jobs, hours of rest, safety rounds, and more — with success or retry status.
